The Cité de la Mer - City of the Sea in Cherbourg - is an unmissable undersea adventure for all ages.
The theme park features exciting interactive exhibits which show mankind's relationship to the deep. More than 2 million people have already come to look around and discover the three different zones. Total visit time is between three and four hours.
The Submarine zone with the life-size Redoutable, the largest visitor-accessible submarine in the world.
The Ocean zone, where you will marvel at the Abyssal Aquarium - the deepest in Europe - along with sixteen other huge tanks each representing a different aquatic environment. See also the presentation "we walked under the sea", a virtual adventure that will leave you astounded.
New in 2011: the Grand Hall of Machines and Men: Find out about new manned submarines for pioneering deep-sea exploration. Alvin (American), Mir (Russian) and Shinkai (from Japan) swim out into the reception area before your very eyes! Alongside Archimedes, the Nautilus and Cyana, the entire international adventure of man under sea is here for visitors to learn about and enjoy. A brand new audio guide is also available with commentaries on all the exhibits, temporary and permanent.
